smith will be at morello's in harrisburg for live music on the patio most wednesdays. expect some unique and talented performers in a variety of styles. music will begin earlier while it is still cool. reservations (618/252-2300) are encouraged if you want to eat outside. check back often for details and added musical guests. tentative lineup, always subject to change and weather, includes:
      April 20 - smith by himself with some instruments in addition to keys - probably should call first, looks to be chilly - update 4/20: tonite's MUSIC CANCELLED/POSTPONED FEET'S TOO COLD
      April 27 - wade newton (repeat offender/groove jones) on guitar & vocals joins smith for a novel mix of classic tunes - blame yourself if you miss this reunion - update 4/27: tonite's MUSIC CANCELLED/POSTPONED rain, cold, flood, etc - THIS WILL BE RESCHEDULED STAY TUNED - back on for June 8
      May 4 - melinda tolley joins smith for mostly bebop & jazz standards - keys, acoustic bass, vocals, scat, flute - bird lives - THIS IS ON. IT MAY BE COOL, WILL MAKE THE JAZZ THAT MUCH COOLER. MO's has firepit and heaters.
      May 11 - get ORGANized - smith on organ in the style of the "other" jimmy smith, and several masters of the hammond b-3 classic sound
      May 18 - rich fabec on guitar doing blues, vocals & jazz
      May 25 - pat abell of taxi joins smith for some unplugged taxi music and acoustic guitar & vocals - expect some downhome country from pat - storm/weather postponement til JULY ??
June 1 - rich fabec on guitar, doing his thang, with the new RFB3 cd
      June 8 - wade newton joins smith - see April 27 rainout
      June 15 - melinda tolley joins smith - see May 4
June 22 - bruce boone on sax joins smith for some soul and standards
June 29 - just maybe smith doing the songs of thelonius monk - maybe - IT IS CONFIRMED, THE SPHERE WILL BE THERE BY PROXY.
July 6 - melinda tolley joins smith for jazzy vocals w flute, bossa
July 13 - rich fabec solo (tentative) - smith gone maybe - or maybe duo - IT WAS A DUO TO BEHOLD - music and temp wuz hot
      July 20 - RESCHED FROM MAY 25 - pat abell of taxi joins smith for some unplugged taxi music and acoustic guitar & vocals - expect some downhome country from pat
      July 27 - smith alone, playin the MalletKat - awful hot to drag out some friend to play - cool tunes and drinks
      Aug 3 - smith alone, try out some new tunes, start a little later, maybe we'll get an early rain shower to cool things down - RAINOUT sorry
      Aug 10 - rich fabec returns, probably without smith (away on medical leave)
      Aug 17 - bruce "tune" boone is back on sax, playin standards & motown
      Aug 24 - melinda tolley returns w smith for standards, bossa, vocals, flute - some improv - yup she can sing and play the piano too
Aug 31 - smith with mallets, MJQ, some john lewis, some milt jackson
Sept 7 - wade newton is back singin and playin w smith; sumthin different
Sept 14 - rich fabec and smith together BUT RAINED OUT sorry boo
Sept 21 - rich fabec w smith if rich can make it; if not, smith solo
Sept 28 - smith alone, his birthday gig - now officially a geezer
Oct 5 - looks like smith alone again; probably playing some great american songbook tunes, emphasizing solo piano per several requests
Oct 12 - rich fabec sez he'll join smith for some bluesy jazz - RAINOUT move to next week
Oct 19 - rich fabec w smith - postponed from Oct 12 - this session CANCELLED due to cold & wet, plus Cards in World Series
Oct 26 - was to be rich fabec and smith - RAINED OUT AGAIN - gettin cool too
Nov 2 - rich fabec w smith if the weatherman cooperates (and he hasn't recently) - check weds afternoon, or call morello's at 252-2300
      Nov XX - TBA - maybe done for this season
