It's time for Smith n PENGUINS live music on Morello's Patio in Harrisburg. It may rain, but the good folks at Mo's have a roof and heaters for
the Patio. Begin April 1. No April Fool.
Plans are to continue with
musical variety this season. Many, if not most, of the performers from
last years sessions will return, with a few new ones. If you have a
strong longing for someone or something in particular, don't hesitate to
ask, and to check this site for upcoming plans and schedule. If you
plan to eat on the Patio, reservations are pretty much a necessity.
Call Mo's at 618/252-2300. Check this blog all call Mo's for your
questions about weather postponement. Music will start usually around 6pm, and
continue at least til dark. There has been some expansion of Patio music to
weekends; let us know what you think.
Emphasis will be
on live music (mostly instrumental): blues, classics, Americana, roots,
standards, jazz, R&B, pop, contemporary, folk, great American
songbook, more. Frequently Smith will host musical guests. To get an
idea of what to expect look at posts below of prior years schedules. The price is right - FREE; the food and drink - not free,
but STELLAR. (Tell em to bring back Stella on draft.) Check it out. Great scene for special events, like

May 27 -da devil hisself - bruce boone - on tenor sax (maybe clarinet too) w some pop, r&b & standards. accompanied by smith on keys. (special guest from canada - ross on trumpet).
June 3 - hodman on sax. smith on keys. special guest expected - april.
June 10 - rich fabec on guitar w smith on keys. mostly jazz. rich can play. and did. full.

June 24 - wade newton (of groove jones) w guitar, at last, rejoins smith on keys. if you've heard him you know what a singer he is. if not, take my word for it. songs we all know. and a few you don't.
July 1 -smith solo. some jazz & improv. mostly piano.
July 8 - hod is back on alto sax w smith; some jazz; maybe two horns. come n see. another special guest maybe, too.
July 15 - by popular demand, melinda tolley joins smith. singin, playin, jazz standards.
July 22 - smith maybe missing. probably subbed by wade newton.
July 29 - bruce (devil) boone on sax with smith on keys. jazz, standards, pop.
Aug 5 - smith with one of his favorite partners.... himself. schizo-smizo. most likely. are you there?

Nov 11 - special memorial for rich fabec, guitar guru. smitty's jazz guitar buddy and partner in jazz. AND a very special treat: cody sandusky to join smith. two keyboards. plus keyboard w bass. memorial scholarship at anna high in memory of rich fabec. details to follow. last wednesday night of this year for patio jazz. come on out. celebrate life and improvisation. that's what rich would want us to do.
